Director of DNA Core Facility
An expert is sought in the area of DNA sequencing, sequence analysis and Q-PCR to direct the DNA Services Core Facility, Research Resources Center (RRC), University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) in Chicago, Illinois USA.
The successful applicant will interact with UIC Principal Investigators and their staff in the design and interpretation of experiments involving all applications of the ABI 3730xl DNA sequencing platform and various Q-PCR platforms including sequencing, genotyping, gene expression, mutation detection. The applicant will also incorporate into the laboratory the latest generation of high-throughput sequencing technology to be acquired this fall.
The core director will be expected to maintain a high level of technological proficiency in the techniques offered by the laboratory, while continuing to expand their skill set to incorporate the latest technological advances. The role of the director encompasses those of the bench scientist in addition to responsibilities for personnel and budget management, day-today technical operations of the lab, assisting UIC faculty in obtaining competitive grants, and developing and maintaining a satisfied customer base.
We are seeking an experienced scientist (with Ph.D. or equivalent) with an outstanding track record in DNA Sequencing. Experience with Next-Gen sequencing/analysis is preferred.
