Overview of MWACD:The purpose of MWACD is to foster closer interactions among core facilities and to sponsor conferences of research core facility directors. The idea for MWACD is modeled on the Northeast Regional Life Science Core Directors (NERLSCD). We became the first official Chapter of the Association of Biomolecular Resource Facilities (ABRF), and we cooperate with ABRF in our activities. We are in the final stages of planning our second core directors conference. The goal of the conference is to provide an opportunity for networking among life science core directors and managers, for core directors to interact with colleagues, share technical advice, and discuss the continuing challenges associated with the operation of shared research resources and technologies. The organization and meetings are not intended to be exclusively confined to the Midwest region: all core directors and core organization managers are encouraged to join and to attend the meeting. We use the web site as a contact database with member info. For those who have already signed up (go through login procedure), please go back and fill out all the information. We are using the Vermont Genetics Network Core Database for any core info you wish to share. Please add your core to this useful, searchable database. If you enter MWACD as an association, we can use the database to search for member cores. We encourage you to inform your colleagues about MWACD. Advantages in creating such a regional organization:
